Designer - Illustrator - Fine Artist
As art is formed by " any and all means necessary....." to find in the artist a means to express itself, so I also as an artist am formed by "any and all means necessary....." to accomplish that expression.
I like to think of my art in terms of 'diversity' & 'emergence' because of its distinctly broad range of subject, style and media.
I am an explorer who began in the world of Architects as a professional Designer & Illustrator preparing elaborate renderings of stunning architectural designs that, in fairness, crossed a bridge from design into fine art.
Through thirty years of professionally recognised work I was admitted membership into the Institute of Designers in Ireland - M.I.D.I. Section for Interior Architecture. And on the same merit of experience was accepted into the Society of Architectural Illustrators - sai.uk. I also have had the privilege to have been a past member of Interior Association Ireland as an Interior Architect.
One of my favourite quotes come from Tom Peters, idi best of the design handbook, 'design is the soul of new enterprise'
So further to this path of exploration I found a curious need within me. Something that created imbalance, and this visual imbalance needed further exploring. The tools of an Illustrator would not do, so paint and brushes found their way into my life and like a bridled horse set free in a field I found a completely unrestrained expression far from the architectural world of exacting design. And even then brushes were a bit limiting as I used "any and all means necessary..." to express this unbridled horse.
I have since created the "Bennett Design Collective Gallery" which can be viewed at here If after viewing my work you would like to visit the gallery I would be happy to arrange an appointment where we can meet and you can enjoy a cup of tea (or coffee if you prefer) and view my collection of work that has over 200 'explorations' done in various media of paint, on canvas, board and mixed media.
